Rule-lines & Outline formatting

I'm a user of EccoPro migrating to OneNote2007.

Until now, I haven't found a suitable program to organize my
information in the way
that I could with EccoPro. Ecco is a program which has a lot of
loyal followers
because it's design allows for much versatility on how you organize
information.
It's latest release dates back to 1997.

The purpose of this mail is to request the development team to
consider new ways of handling
the rule-lines on any note. Now, the rule-line capability of ON is
blind as to what information
is contained in the note. In Ecco, the rule-lines are deliberately
made one-line or several-lines
by the user when entering the "item" (single piece of information
entered).

It would also be desirable to have outline formatting available for
the formatting of a specific level
of nested entries.

I agree with the suggestion about Outline formatting (within some
parameters) but the rule line issue would be a rather substantial change in
how the rule lines are handled, I think. Right now they are nothing more
than ink guides to help better write on the page. You're asking that they
be made a somewhat active part of the page content.

I do agree with folks who want the option to have them print; but I don't
think I want the lines to change based upon content -- otherwise they lose
their utility for those of us using them for ink.

I agree with Ben that the impact of having to entirely change OneNote
just to make the lines print as they are on the screen is really not
that important.

I would love to hear the exact reason you want the lines to print.

What are you using OneNote for ?

A fundamental question is ...Q: why does paper have lines ? Why does
lined paper exist ? The reason I'm sure was to make it easy to write
in a straight line. OneNote accomplishes that, with it's on-screen
lines.

They key here is DONT print the lines. It might take a wee bit of
getting used to no lines, but it's probably best thought of as
progress not regression. The reader doesn't need the lines !

IMO.

If you really want lines that "line up" with text, just insert your
own background with lines and ink on TOP of those lines.

I can't seem to print Ruled Lines in OneNote 2007. I thought I could
in OneNote 2003.

Nope, the lines never printed. (But I'd like to see that option added to a
future version)
