Rule that Mimics Out of Office Autoreply after other rules are app

I'm using MS Outlook 2002 - on an Exchange server. I would like to be able
to create an "autoreply" rule that would apply AFTER other rules I've set up,
so that certain message senders are not sent the autoreply (I have two rules
in place - one that moves likely SPAM into a junk e-mail folder and one that
moves newsletter/updates into a "to read" folder).

The standard "Out of Office" doesn't work, since it sends a reply to all
senders prior to any other rules being applied (meaning that all the spammers
get my "I'm not here" message).

I'm looking at the Rules Wizard templates and can't find a rule that would
allow me to create an autoresponse (they all seem to deal with moving or
forwarding, etc. - not replying) Am I missing something simple?

Thanks for any suggestions you can provide.

The Out of Office Assistant can do this already. You don't need an
additional rule. Click Tools>Out of Office Assistant. Click "Add Rule".
Put the addresses of those certain senders in the From field. Check "Do not
process subsequent rules" Click Advanced and check the box labeled "Only
items that do not match these conditions". Click OK, then OK. Turn your
OOA on if you wish and click OK, or just click OK if you intend to use it
later.

So the rules that I add using this process would be applied before an Out of
Office response was sent to the sender?

If so - I think I can make it work - I'll probably have to set up two
separate rules - one for sender, one for subject line, but it sounds easy
enough.

Thanks much!

If you want the OOA message to be suppressed for either a message coming
from a particular user OR a message with a particular string in the subject
line, then, yes, you'll need two exception rules.

HELP!! I set this up in April as instructed and thought I was all set, but am
now ready to activate it, and when I did what you said, and tested it from
another address, the out of office message was sent back prior to the other
rule(s) to redirect certain e-mails being applied.

I'm leaving tomorrow for a weeklong vacation and REALLY don't want to have a
reply sent to every spammer who sends me mail (necessitating the rule to
redirect mail marked spam into a junk mail folder).

It appears that the OOA reply is processed BEFORE the other rules I set up
following your instructions - even though I have checked "do not process
subsequent rules box" in the advanced settings.

Can anyone help me quickly?

Thanks in advance - Alisande
