rule wizard cant move mail to specified folder

I created rules using the rules wizard. It was working fine but at some point
stopped working. Now my inbox is a mess. All messages just go directly to my
inbox folder whereas before, messages were sorted to the diff. folders I've
specified it to be moved to. My problem is the messages cant be sorted as
they come in to my inbox but when I manually run the rules, messages can be
sorted successfully. The error message that I always get when a mail comes in
is "The folder you are trying to move or copy the message to can't be found.
Make sure the rule refers to a valid folder." Somebody please help. It's
really frustrating to run the rules manually everytime.

what type of mail account do you have? are the folders on your local machine
or on a network?
