Ruler does not align to the edge of paper

How do I get the ruler to start at the edge of the paper on the screen?

I am trying to print on standard A4 paper. The page layout is set to
this and is on 100%. The margins are greyed and correct (but not
starting from edge of where paper really is). When I view the document
on screen the zero marker does not start from the edge of the paper.
The result is that the printed document is shrunk, smaller than A4 (as
I see on the screen)

Word, and the Apple OS X print thingy, automatically limits the margins
to the area of the page that your printer can print. Only a few
printers will print right to the edge.

Possibly the easiest way to get the narrowest margins in Word is to use
Page Setup. Set your printer and paper size, then choose Microsoft Word
in the settings sub-menu of Page Setup. Bang away at margins... Set 'em
all to 0, Word will complain, then set 'em as near to the edge as it
can.

HI,
You can adjust the point where the ruller starts by click and drag the
ruller on the blue/white interface - you will see the mouse cursor to change
to something like {}. However, I'm not sure that that is what you want. The
ruller - starts where the main "text box" does. that means that by adjusting
the ruller position you will move all your text.
What happen if you print it into PDF?

Hello Elliot,

Following my last email, I worked out that the problem was that I was
printing when 'final showing mark up' was highlighted not the final so
it printed out with a wide margin on the side of the page.

Thanks anyway for your assistance!
