Rules and alerts

I have created rules from messages rather than starting from Rules and Alerts
and then creating a new rule. The rules created from a message are locked in
Rules and alerts. I can't access any of them to change or delete. Rules
created through Rules and Alerts work fine. How do I fix this problem? I'm
using Outlook 2003, by the way.

There shouldn't be any difference between those rules. Were they also
created with Outlook 2003?
What type of mail account are you using?

If all things fail, you can force a deletion of all rules via;
Start-> Run; outlook.exe /cleanrules

It happens with both POP accounts and Windows Live (i.e. @live.com or
hotmail.com). All rules created through Outlook 2003. The rules set up
using "new rules" have an icon to the right side of the rules list. Rules
created from messages don't have that icon and are not accessable. I don't
want to remove all rules as many work propertly. Thanks for any help.
