1) If filters.txt is really just a readme file to demo what Outlook is
doing, where are the actual entries stored in Outlook 2002 ? In a text
file, like "Junk Senders.txt" ? Or the Registry ? I can see it is the
outlfltr.dat for 2003. But where is it in Outlook 2002 ?

2) These 3 rules fall into 2 Types:
- Content: Adult Content Rule, Junk E-Mail Rule
- Exceptions: Exception List

I'm having difficulty interpreting the implementation of the "Exceptions
List" rule. If it represents the exceptions to who or what may use junk or
adult criteria, then (it seems) it must be the moment in rule processing
when junk and adult content are actually filtered. If not, how do I
interpret the placement
and meaning of that rule versus the Adult and Junk Content Rules ?

Must the 2 types be together ? How do they functionally operate if not ?

1) AFAIK, they are hard coded in a dll but I never really looked into it.
They are not in the registry. The junk function is different between Ol2002
and ol2003 BTW.

2) exceptions are used at the time of processing to prevent mail from being
classed as junk - i.e., 'if the message has the word Viagra in it, it's
spam, except if it's from Dr. Valentine, then don't move it to the junk
folder'. You would use this to whitelist senders - if all mail from
Microsoft is caught by the junk rule, you need to add an exception for
Microsoft's addresses. (and yes, many newsletters from MS are caught by the
filters )
