My organization uses an IMAP mail server. We are currently switching clients
to Outlook 2003 and many users are reporting this problem:
We instruct our users to create a Rule that runs after sending email
messages that will move a copy of the message to a folder in their IMAP
mailbox. We have our users create this rule because Outlook by default only
stores sent email in the local Personal Folders file when using IMAP.
This rule runs correctly for awhile, but will then disable and stay
disabled. I've read that this can be caused by a network interruption (makes
sense: it can't move a copy to a folder that can't be accessed). But our
users frequently do not notice that this happens, so their mail is not stored
in the correct place.
So, is there any way to prevent a rule from permanently disabling when it
fails?
Or, is there any way to automatically enable all rules upon Outlook 2003
startup?
Or, is there a way to configure an IMAP setup to store Sent Mail in IMAP
folders and not Personal Folders, thereby not needing a rule?
I'd appreciate any advice you have, or general comments about why Rules
disable.
