I'm using Outlook 2002 - SP2 and getting some very strange behavior in
regards to rules.
Without getting into too many specifics I have some rules that look for
messages sent to a partiicular address with particular words in the subject
lines and are supposed to move the messages that match to a specific folder.
Each of these rules has "stop processing more rules" in them. Each of these
rules is somewhere in the middle of the list.
The problem is that a rule at the bottom of the list appears to be
overriding each of these previous rules. That rule is supposed to match the
same sent to address as the other rules, but makes no stipulations on
subject. Thus it is supposed to catch all the messages that fall through the
more exacting subject checks. However, for some reason, all messages sent to
that address are matching this rule, regardless of subject and rules
processing order.
The thing that is really weird is that if I go to rules wizard, do run now,
and select the rules that got apparently prempted by this last rule, and
specify the folder they were incorrectly moved to, the preempted rules now
work.
What is going on?
