Rules only work manually, I suggest MS "select all" button please!

OK, Like many others that I've seen post to this list I've had problems with
the Rules not working automatically since I converted to Outlook 2003 SP2
(currently on SMTP) a few months ago (I was using another simple older non-MS
product that did the job very efficiently, but the the whole uni department
I'm in will be converting to Exchange and Outlook). I'm not going to be
antagonistic about this, but suggest Microsoft should fix this problem - As I
have seen at least one post underline that this is one of the primary
functions of an email program (I actually assume MicroSoft must be working on
this, but just not yet found a solution, though I wouldn't have thought it
would be that difficult despite not being an IT person myself). The
multi-step possible fixes on this list are fairly technical - and should not
be necessary - and I know the hundreds of academics and students that will be
taking this on at this uni soon will struggle with this. I know others here
are having the same problem, including the IT guys.

So its a problem, it must be fixed, and I assume MS are working on it but
having problems.

MY SUGGESTION:
In the meantime, if I do have to apply the rules manually, could MS please
supply and update with a "select all" button in the "Run Rules Now" window. I
have at least 20 rules in each of two email accounts that are essential for
me to sort through a large amount of incoming mail - as I said they worked
beautifully in the the other non-MS program I used to use. Having to tick
every visible box, then scroll a bit, tick the next series of visible boxes,
and so on, is very tedious. I would actually want to have a few more Rules
but until they fix this problem (or throw in a "select all" button) I can't
really entertain the idea.

Hope the solution is near,

Not enough info here to provide an answer to your issue.
Did they ever work? For instance before you applied SP2?
How many rules do you have?
Since when do you have the issue? What changed?
Does everyone have this issue or just you?

I have two email accounts with the university that work through Outlook 2003
SP2. Prior to this I was using a well known non-microsoft product which
worked very well, so I can't make comparisons between this and previous
Outlook versions.

On one account I have 24 roule, and the other I have 27. I had more than
this when I was using the other program (about 50, but they work globally on
both accounts in that other program), but would like to sort this problem out
before I create more rules.

I've had this issue from the outset. Seems intermittetent, but only works
correctly less than 1% of the time. I noticed the last time it worked
properly was when I checked my emails at home (this is a laptop) through a
dial up connection. Not everyone has moved accross to Outlook yet, but I do
know one of the IT support people have the same problem (I'm not an IT
person, just a biologist) and he said it was wide spread, and we just have to
wait till Microsoft come up with a fix for it.

Hope this narrows it down for you - I'm not fluent in IT terminology!

Thanks,
Chris

Sorry - typo - that should have been "24 rules" in first line of second
paragraph...
