OK, Like many others that I've seen post to this list I've had problems with
the Rules not working automatically since I converted to Outlook 2003 SP2
(currently on SMTP) a few months ago (I was using another simple older non-MS
product that did the job very efficiently, but the the whole uni department
I'm in will be converting to Exchange and Outlook). I'm not going to be
antagonistic about this, but suggest Microsoft should fix this problem - As I
have seen at least one post underline that this is one of the primary
functions of an email program (I actually assume MicroSoft must be working on
this, but just not yet found a solution, though I wouldn't have thought it
would be that difficult despite not being an IT person myself). The
multi-step possible fixes on this list are fairly technical - and should not
be necessary - and I know the hundreds of academics and students that will be
taking this on at this uni soon will struggle with this. I know others here
are having the same problem, including the IT guys.
So its a problem, it must be fixed, and I assume MS are working on it but
having problems.
MY SUGGESTION:
In the meantime, if I do have to apply the rules manually, could MS please
supply and update with a "select all" button in the "Run Rules Now" window. I
have at least 20 rules in each of two email accounts that are essential for
me to sort through a large amount of incoming mail - as I said they worked
beautifully in the the other non-MS program I used to use. Having to tick
every visible box, then scroll a bit, tick the next series of visible boxes,
and so on, is very tedious. I would actually want to have a few more Rules
but until they fix this problem (or throw in a "select all" button) I can't
really entertain the idea.
Hope the solution is near,
