I make extensive use of the search folders for Project requests, Helpdesk
requests, Project Management Requests etc.
Rules are generally setup like follows:
1. Apply rule after mail arrive
2. with "@PROJECT.thiess.com" in the senders address
3. Flag message for 'followup within 2 days'
4. and flag with COLOUR flag
5. and move to the PROJECT folder
Flag colours are used fopr required action (i.e. RED=Action required,
BLUE=Pending etc)
The 'Favorites Folders' is then filled with specific search filters, that
are then setup like:
'Favorite Folder'
-Inbox (standard)
-Helpdesk (items flagged 'Red' that have 'Incident #' in subject)
-Calls (items flagged 'Blue' that have 'Please call:' in the subject)
-My Actions in Current (Items flagged 'Red' in the Current PST folder)
-Pending in Current ((Items flagged 'Blue' in the Current PST folder)
-- etc for the searches I have.
Now the 'My Mailbox' folder is collapsed, and is not required to show any of
its folders as I can open it manually if I want to, as anything 'there' is
show by the various search filters in the favorites.
BUT, everytime something is automatically moved to a folder there, Outlook
automatically opens the Mailbox folder, and the 36 sub-folders underneath
(including the standard Inbox, Sent Items, Deleted etc)
How can I keep this 'closed', if I want it opened, I will open it. I do not
need Outlook to open it as the item is visble in my 'Favorites'
If someone wants some screen-shots, I can send them.
