Rules with IMAP account

Martin Rep

Hi ;-)

I have made a rule for my IMAP account (Apple) to move messages to the
IN-box on my computer.
The next thing is that I want to make these messages obey the other rules,
i.e. the ones for my POP accounts.
But the option 'do not apply other rules to messages that meet these
criteria' is activated as well as greyed out.

Does this mean that want I want is not possible?
Thanks for your help!

Yes. IMAP Rules are meant to act on a message ONLY when it first arrives in
the IMAP INBOX, not when moved to another IMAP folder. More on

Why not just change the account from IMAP to POP?

Oh, yes, I see it can be done... Interesting! (

Note the " By default, Mail will leave a copy of all messages on the server
for one week after you open them. If you'd prefer a different setting,
follow these steps:" This only refers to Apple Mail. You can make that
setting in Entourage under the Options tab for the account.
