Two persons in our office receive a serious amount of junk
and adult email every day. We have turned on the junk
email function through the organize wizard, and created a
rule to move anything suspected as junk or adult email to
an email folder. This works on a small portion the
garbage. I recently created a rule to review each message
as it arrives, look for words in a list that may appear in
the subject, and move these to the junk mail folder,
provided it was not sent only to him.
Recently, while one of the guys was out of the office for
an extended period of time, I moved all the junk to
another folder, and ran the rule I created. Nothing was
moved, even though the subjects obviouslly contained the
words in the list I created. This brings me to a couple of
questions...
1. Are the words searched for in a filter case sensitive.
Will debt also remove Debt, DEBT, and all other
derivations of capitalization?
2. In a similar vein, we get so many mesages that have
groups of question marks in the subject. I'm searching
for "??" so it will not key on a true question posed in
the subject line. Will this also pick up "???????"?
3. We use Outlook 2000 as clients for Exchange Server 5.5.
When I update my Outlook, it also updates the server. For
some reason, Jim's does not. All his rules seem to be
client based. He also uses a PDA for his contacts, but not
email. Could this be interfering with how the rules work.
Thanks for any advice or help!
