I need to run a macro in a mail merge, but i need it to run automatically
each time a new record is viewed. How do i accomplish this?

What version of Word and what do you want the macro to do. There are
Mailmerge events in XP and later that you may be able to use.

I use Office 2000 at work where i need the macro to run with each new record,
but I have Office 2003 at home. So possibly if you could tel lme about the
new mailmerge events I can just do it at home.

As far as the macro, I have a field - Fillin - and i want the question to be
asked for each record and the corresponding answer to be put in the
appropriate response. Right now, the only way I can get the fillin field to
"run" is by selecting update field. I want to make a macro that
automatically runs this field each time a new record is viewed. Any
suggestions of a better way to do this? With a best case scenario, there
would be a field that would put my answer back into the access database that
I am running the mail merge from. Is this possible?

Thanks for your help.

I think an Ask field will ask the question for each record.

The problem is each time i select a new record, the ask field does not
automatically run. i need to select update field for the question to be
asked. is there a way to write a macro for this to automatically run each
time i view a new record?

In the Insert Word Field Ask dialog, there is a box that can be checked so
that the question is only asked once. If it is left unchecked, the question
will be asked for each record.
