Run Access 2003 mde from web page - Annoying problem

I have a Access 2003 mde database which is run from a web page .... a simple
link to a network drive. Unfortunately, each time it is run I am asked
whether it should be opened, saved, or cancelled. If I say open I get
another dialogue box warning about the publisher not being verified.

I’m not sure whether this is the problem people talk about when they ask
about the security warning. I’ve tried using the vbscript, which temporarily
sets the security to low, but I’m still prompted with these dialogues.

Can I get rid of these?

What I should have said was that this is an Intranet page at work and not the
web. The link which currently runs the database is;
a href="file:///k:\corp\db1.mde">db

You could try to configure the Browser (Internet Expolorer, I suppose)
security for the "local intranet" zone. Specificly, click "Custom level..."
button and set "Lauching applications and unsafe files" from "Prompt" to
"Enable".

Warning, your network/windows settings may not allow you to do that. Even
you have the permission to do that, it is not desired and highly not
recommended. You only do this when you are 100% sure that ANY APPLICATION
launched by your brower is safe.

The real question is why you have to lauch Access application from web page
while it is LAN application? You do not have to open a security hole in the
browser to run your LAN MS Access application.

Thanks for the suggestion but it's not a solution that I'll carry out due to
the security being opened.

The reason for wanting to run the application from a web page is that we use
the intranet site as a central location for easy access (no pun intended) to
various files, programs and information across the whole company.

from my understanding

Microsoft HANDICAPS ACCESS

Excel is 10 times the security risk-- just the sheer count of macro
virus in the real world
but Excel doesn't prompt us like this right?

the problem is that the wuss PMs at Microsoft don't have the balls to
stand up and demand a decent usability experience.

Microsoft handicaps Access and they let Excel run rampant; we get
prompted 3 times the Excel users get prompted ONCE?

I just don't get it

someone at Microsoft needs to grow some balls; maybe if they didn't
spend all their time hiring docile Hindi pacificists; maybe their
products wouldn't suck from a usability standpoint

MS basically conned us all into moving to .NET by givign us all of
these stupid security prompts

so instead of FIXING THE PROBLEM they try to sell us on a new version

is anyone else getting sick of this needless endless upgrades?
