Thanks Microsoft... Why am I constantly being asked to insert my OfficeXP CD
when I told it to install and "Run All From Hard Drive" or whatever during
install??
I own the CDs... that's not the issue... Problem is my computer regularly
has no CD drive... i use it for data recovery (this particular PC) and so I
dedicate IDE channels to each drive for the best results and I only have 2
IDE on mobo...
So I installed OfficeXP on my troubleshooting/recovery machine so I could
check files when they come off of the "bad" HDD... of course Word doesn't
handle .wps (thanks AGAIN m$) so I downloaded the MS converter, from MS, for
works to word (try finding that thing from M$ website... had to hit google to
get it)...
Installation required me to insert the OrificeXP disk... WHY? can someone
please tell me why!!! i told it to install and Run All from HDD... isnt this
what this means?? What if I am on the road with my laptop and need to run an
update? its not like I carry all my m$ CD's with me... and M$ tells me that
2k3 has a Local Install option to take care of this... which basically rips a
CD image to your HDD to refer back to... WTF? Can't M$ make a "Run all from
HDD" that ACTUALLY DOES THAT??? i mean c'mon... wtf? they hiding code back on
the CD cause they are paranoid someone will rip off their precious IP? get a
life...
So is there a way around this ? sorry about my rant... but copying a CD
image to my laptop is not an option... i dont have the HDD space to support
that type of pre-school-game-disk-ripper type of fix for this... I got over
doing that YEARS ago when i realized that paying for games was the only way
game makes made money and pirating good games simply meant no more good
games. Not like movies where people pay to go see, pay to get the DVD... and
CDs too... record comanies are only loosing money that should have gone to
the artist to begin with...
Sheesh I am ranty today... so sorry... But please if you know a way around I
would love to hear it... Thanks to anyone who even reads this to the
bottom... Im not a fan of rants myself
