Run macro/update fields on open document

I've created a form using fill-ins instead of form fields
(so I don't have to lock the document) for use by others.
I want Word to update the fields (i.e., the fill-in
fields), as soon as the user opens the document. How do I
do that? I know that a template does it automatically,
but how do I do it with a document?

Thanks!
Emily

Save your document as a template and have your users create new documents
from the template. The fields will update automatically when the new
document is created.

If you have them update every time a document is opened people are going to
get very annoyed with you.

For more on the different kinds of templates and locations of templates
folders see http://addbalance.com/usersguide/templates.htm.
