Run Rules Before Junk Mail Filter?

Is there anyway to have the Outlook 2003 Rules run before the Junk Mail
Filter? Would be great if you could assign the Junk Mail Filter to run at
what location within the list of Rules? If not was this improved in Outlook
2007 ?

No.

I dunno. Would it? I've still yet to feel the need to do this.

Nope. Try looking at third party spam filtering options and seeing if they
meet your needs.

I must be the only one then who get's good mail going into Junk Mailbox due
to Microsoft's spam filter.

No, I get good mail in there. I haven't seen a spam filter that was 100%
perfect.

In fact, that's *exactly* why I would never create a rule that permanently
deletes messages that go to spam.

Because I'm worried that *that* rule will catch something it shouldn't and
thus delete a message I should get.

If you think you can build better logic than whoever wrote the spam filters,
then shut them off and start building your own.

Not saying I could build better logic. But having control as to when
the Microsoft Junk mail filter is run would be a nice feature. As
opposed to it currently being the first thing to run when mail
arrives, would be nice to give users the flexibility to run some of
their own rules first.

I couldn't agree more. There are some mail items that I definitely want
to process before the Junk Mail filter; stuff that I know isn't junk,
and stuff that I'm so certain about I can delete it without ever seeing
it. In the latter category I would include mail formatted in a character
set that I cannot read. Even if it came from god, it's still junk if I
cannot read the characters!

The mail rules used to run before the junk filter, but got moved
afterwards by one of the updates.

Of course, if I could write rules that ran on stuff in the Junk Mail
folder then I'd be happy.
