run time error '91'; object variable or with block variable not set

excel will not close - when attempting to select file/close the block pops
up with run time error '91' object varialbe or with block variable not set -
with the options to debug highlighted - when debug is selected the visual
basic editor displays the Close Macro Code - with the If application.
activewindow.window number = 1 then highlighted - I do not know enough about
the close macros to know how to fix this problem - can anyone advise - this
is a Windows 95 system - thank you.
