Running Access 2000 application in Access 2007

I'm a new user of Access 2007. I developed an Access 97 application about 10
years ago and have continued to successfully modify and market the
application. I now modify the application in Access 2000. It runs in Access
2000, 2002, and 2003 environments

Some of my clients are now installing Access 2007. The application does open
and seems to run in Access 2007 as an *mde version. (I have not completely
tested the application in 2007) I have now purchase a copy of Access 2007,
for testing purposes, and installed it on the same computer as my other
versions of Access.

Again, the application seems to open and run the *.mde version, But Access
2007 will not even open the *.mdb version. The *.mdb version just hangs up on
startup without an error message, except for "Not Responding" and then shuts
down.

Does anyone have suggestions as how to trouble shoot this issue?

Have you set the security to allow it to execute?

also, you should open the database and bypass any startup code (press
SHIFT when opening), then compile it before you run anything

Thank you for your comments. Although they didn't fully answer my question,
I was able to get my databases "Trusted". After further experimentation with
Access 2007, noticed the following:
1) When I opened the database, bypassing the startup code, it opened.
However, the moment I let go of the shift button (it didn't matter how long I
held it down) the program appeared to crash (hourglass froze and if I "X" out
of the database I got the familiar "Not Responding" followed Microsoft's
invitation to send a report).

2) At one point Microsoft Office requested that I run Microsoft Office
Diagnostics. It identified a problem in Diagnostic 5 and took corrective
action. During the diagnostic process the application I was trying open at
the time, opened.

Does this mean it found a problem in the Access 2007 program and corrected it?

3) When I tried to open the next application I decided not to "X" out, but
to just wait. I left the computer, came back a half hour later and the
program had opened. Thereafter, the program opened immediately. Note: It
seems I have to go through this process for each clients application, but
doesn't take as long.

Also, it appears if I then open the database in Access 2000, and then try to
open in Access 2007, goes through the same process described above, but
again, not as long.

What's causing this? Are changes being made to the application?

3)It appears Access 2007 goes through a "Configuration Process" on startup
every time I have run Access 2000 prior to it.

Why is this happening? Is there a way of maintaining the configuration?

Access 2007 is likely recompiling the VBA code. Although this
shouldn't take a half hour.
