Does anybody have experience of running Access on Citrix that they would like
to share? Microsoft only support it on a 'best-effort' basis (KB209161). We
have successfully been running several databases this way, but were wondering
if we have set them up optimally and would like a better understaning of how
Access behaves in this environment.
The front-ends and back-ends are split and are on separate drives. The
front-ends are installed on 2 servers on the farm and load-balancing is
managed by Citrix.
The front-ends are still mdbs - whilst we would prefer them to be mdes this
seems to causing locking errors??!! Not sure why this is.
For those databases that need to create temporary tables, we run a batch
file to copy the front-end into the users local profile on the server and
then launch it. This way one users temporary tables are kept separate from
anothers.
Interested to hear what experiences other users have.
