Running excel macro from IE hyperlink

I have a FILE1.xls running a macro that collect data from
FILE2.csv and displays a graph of the data in FILE1. This
works well when the file is opened in Excel. When I open
FILE1 from a hyperlink in our company's intranet web
browser (IE5) the data is not copied across from FILE2 to
FILE1. Any ideas why this does not work through IE.

Some macros can't be run from within browsers. You can configure your system so
that Excel files always run in Excel. See the link below.
