Why direct the OP to a completely different web site? There are Mac-
specific newsgroups among Microsoft's hosted newsgroups, e.g.,

microsoft.public.mac.office

which the OP could access using

http://www.microsoft.com/communities/newsgroups/en-us/default.aspx?dg=microsoft.public.mac.office

or is there some reason to believe the Mac people who respond in
Microsoft newsgroups aren't as knowledgeable as Windows people who
respond in Microsoft newsgroups or Mac people who respond in non-
Microsoft newsgroups? Or we you simply unaware that Microsoft hosted
Mac-specific newsgroups?

Harlan,

The Mac forums Lucy referred to are a mirror of the discussion/newsgroups you're in a tizzy about.

http://mactopia.com
http://officeformac.com
http://microsoft.com/mac
are all part/aliases of the Microsoft Office:mac product group's site. The Office:mac MVPs are in the forums as well as the forums
mirror the news/discussion groups the same way the 'community' pages do.
