I have run office 97 products for 5-6 years without any problem. Upgraded to
windows XP from 98 again no problems with office. However, as the original
disk was running out of room i have installed new hard drive making this c:
and kept the old disk as d: I have left the office 97 on the old disk (d:) as
i seem to have lost the original disk and when i try to run them from c: i
get the following error messages:
Access:
"Failed to start msjet35.dll was not found" - but it is on d:\windows\system32
Excel:
"One of your object libraries (vbaen32.olb) is missing or damaged" - but it
is in same directory as above - Excel then starts and seems to run.
Word:
"Windows registry has reported that one or more req'd files are damaged or
missing" - Word then starts and seems to run.
Outlook
"Cannot start microsoft outlook"

If i make the old disk c: and run xp (still loaded for now) they run
perfectly as they did before. It only occurrs when running from new drive. I
assume it is to do with how they were originally installed (setup) but not
having the original disk I do not know how to correct the problem.

Thanks

The short answer is that you need to re-install, but for that you'd need the
original CD.

You could try eBay.

You cannot swap hd's about, ie C to D, if there are apps installed on
original disk, without reinstalling/repairing, and since you don't have
original cd you cannot cure this.
You could leave C as C install new hd as slave, then uninstall apps, for
which you have cd's and reinstall on the new slave.
The My Documents folder can be moved to the new hd, as can the paging file,
to increase free space on C
Should you contemplate upgrading Office be aware unless you have the
origonal cd you could have future problems.
