I have been running Excel under a Windows service as part of a platform to
perform some monitoring calculations for an external system. Recently I
applied Office 2003 service pack 2 and now it would appear that I am no
longer allowed to run Excel (or any other Office app) with the Windows
service using the System account.
Has anyone else run into this? I can't find anything in the Service Pack 2
details that suggests there was a change made in this area.
Can anyone on the Office team confirm for me that this is now restricted? I
have several clients that will be affected if they apply this upgrade. So I
need to know whether I should have them avoid the update or if there is a
option to continue this type of application.
