Running Outlook 2003 with Office 2007

Chris

I recently upgraded to Office 2007 student/teacher edition. It did not have
email, so outlook 2003 is still my email. For every single email I get
outlook 2007 does a configuration. So if I get 20 emails, outlook 2007
reconfigures 20 times.

You have me confused! If Outlook 2003 is still your email, how can Outlook
2007 do any re-configuration? Which do you have, Outlook 2003 or Outlook
2007?

What order did you install the office apps? Did you use detect and repair
(office diagnostics) for the version that is doing the configuration?

Typically, you should install versions in order - so Outlook 2003 goes
first, then Office 2007. Running office diagnostics in 2007 *should* fix
it, if 2003 was installed second. You won't need to reinstall 2007.

I already had 2003 Teacher/Student edition. Then I downloaded 2007
Teacher/Student edition. I chose to upgrade instead of customize. When all
was said and done I had 2007 Word, 2007 Power Point, 2007 Excel, and 2003
Outlook.

When I open up my email it does the configuration before every email that
comes in. It doesn't do it when I open up anything else.

If this were happening to me, I'd uninstall Office 2007, then uninstall
Office 2003, using the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility (from Microsoft's
download area) to remove any remnant of the older office, reinstall only
Outlook 2003, then install Office 2007 H&S.

Outlook and the other Office applications (specialy word and excel)
have integration, however keep in mind that in Office 2007 some of the
file extentions changed, I have seen this happen when you have Outlook
2007 and Office 2003 and the only way to resolve this is you can go
into your Tools > Options in the settings I would advise to remove
word as your default spell checker and any other office application
outlook might be using... over all my recomindation is to keep all the
office applications with in the same year to avoid conflicts.

So it sounds as if Chris is just pretty much screwed......I can't imagine WHY
MS took out Outlook and Publisher from the Student Teacher addision....well
actually, I can....MONEY----but think there should have been a HUGE
disclaimer stating what is not included in the new version. Several of my
students purchased it without reallizing they weren't getting what they had
in the past..... bummer!!

The major reason AFAICS was that Office 2007 is really designed for Vista
and Vista has not only an email client but a calendar as well, which
previous versions of Windows did not...
