Running PP when PP is not loaded

Can a PowerPoint presentation (2008, Saved As. 97-2004) saved in such a way
that it can be run on a computer which does not have PowerPoint loaded. I
realize it can be saved as a Movie and run with QuickTime but that looses
the transitions.

There are free PPT viewers available for Windows PCs but not for recent
Macs, unfortunately.
