Running spell check on a Template

I have created a template and have protected the document so it can't be
changed.
When the fillable field are filled out, the Spell Check button doesn't
become active to run a check of the document before sending for review.
So, the question is; How do you turn on the spell check while in the
protected mode? Help PLEASE!!!
