Runtime/Access Developers

Hi,

Does Access 2002 sell as a developers edition, which
includes the runtime tool (develop applications that
operate without installation of Access).

Would I look for Access 2002 Developers Edition, and
will it sell separately from the Office XP for Developers
or do you have to get the whole Office XP to get the
Access developers tool.

Developer tools which allow one to deploy an Access database to computers
without a copy of Access are available as a component of MS Office
Professional - Developer's Edition. As far as I know, these tools are
available only as a part of the suite - not separately nor as a part of the
Access 2002 stand-alone product.

place to buy MS Office Professional - Developers
Edition. I would like a second opinion.

That is a tough question! What I do recommend is that you shop around AND
make absolutely sure of what you are buying:

The product name - as on the box: Microsoft Office XP Developer

Two versions are available: Non-upgrade, meaning you do not already own
one of the older, qualifying products found at:

http://www.microsoft.com/office/howtobuy/upgrading.asp

or, Upgrade Version, meaning that you *do* own one of those qualifying
products listed at the above link, in which case the suite will cost a bit
less.

Is it the best? That depends pretty much on what day it is <G>. Another

You need to consider whether or not the on-line vendor charges shipping or
not (some don't) - or whether shipping charges are more than the sales tax
you might pay locally. Some on-line vendors will also charge you sales
tax for your locality. And, of course, look locally if you have a
MicroCenter, Office Depot or Office Max; but be sure you tell them *exactly*
what you want and make sure that's what they bring you.

I do not recommend eBay, however, for a purchase of this size; it's simply
too risky.
