Runtime error from Outlook under Win XP

T

Tim Eckerman

I have Outlook 2000 and it's been running on a Compaq
portable under Windows 98 2nd edition with all the
updates applied.

I just installed Windows XP home edition. Now
when I try to start Outlook, it generates a runtime
error. The title of the error window is "Microsoft
Visual C++ Runtime Library". The text of the error is:

Runtime Error!

Program: C:\PROGRA~1\MICROS~2\Office\OUTLOOK.EXE

This application has requested the Runtime to terminate
it in an unusual way.
Please contact the application's support team for more
information.

I have been wrestling with this all day. I have
installed all of the MS site updates for Windows XP and
for Office 2000. I then tried uninstalling Office and
reinstalling it again. The runtime error still happens.
I copied the .PST file to another computer, and it works
fine there. But I need it to work on my portable because
I travel. Please help! Thank you.
