Runtime error. - help

I am receiving the following error when I try to access an existing Word doc
or start Word. Any help is appreciated.

Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library

Runtime Error!

Program: C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\WINWORD.EXE

This application has requested the runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.
