Runtime error: Outlook terminating in an unusual way-syncing invol

I've perused the forums for a solution to this, and I see that a couple of
other people have the same problem. Namely, they run into this error message
when they attempt to run Outlook...

Runtime Error!

Program: C:\PROGRA~1\MICROS~2\Office10\OUTLOOK.EXE

This application has requested the Runtime to terminate in an unusual way.
Please contact the application's support team for more information.

---------end of error message------------

I had a previous version of Outlook that I've used for the last couple of
months, before I decided to install this version of Office (namely, Office 12
beta-version). I've also been using that version of Outlook in conjuction
with a syncing program with my cell phone, which is made by Samsung.

I also have Norton Internet Security, which is currently updated as of this
writing. I've already disabled plug-in, tried re-installing Office XP, and
still nothing. I do, however, notice that there's still a shortcut to the
Office 12 version of Outlook, but it returns an error message whenever I try
to use the shortcut.

Any ideas?
