runtime error

When I open up an excel file and make a change I get a
window that says the following:

microsoft visual C ++ Runtime Library
Runtime Error!

Program:C:progam Files\Microsoft office\Office10\Excel.exe

This application has requested the runtime terminate it in
an unusual way. Please contact the application support
team for more info.

I have downloaded all of the updates and patches. It is
also starting to happen with other programs. Virtually
same message.

HELP!!!
