Want to deploy my Access07 .accdb file to a few people w/out full version of
A07. Am having problem doing it. Would like to test it first if I can do it.
I asked about this before but I still can't do it. Went to MS Office Online
"Deploy an Access2007 Application". One topic "Can I open an Acc2007DB in
runtime mode without using the Access2007 runtime software". It says to :
-change file name extension from .accdb to .accdr. HOW DO I DO THIS?
-create a shortcut to the database and include the /RUntime command-line
switch in the shortcut. HOW DO I DO THIS?

Thanks for any suggestions or infos, BOB

Bob,

In order to deploy an Access 2007 application to a User that does not have
Access 2007 installed you will need to download and use
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...d9-9dc6-4b38-9fa6-2c745a175aed&displaylang=en
(watch for word wrap)

Changing the extension of a database does NOT turn it into a runtimer as
there are components that are installed on to the machines of Users who do
not have the full time of Access that need to be there in order for your
database to run. However, to answer your question: To change the extension
of a database... Find the file in Windows Explorer (you can either do that
manually or use the Search Folders option) and right mouse click on the file
and select 'Rename'. To use the /Runtime command-line switch you will need
to put a shortcut on your desktop. (Right mouse click on your desktop and
select New Desktop SHortcut and follow the prompts.) After you get you your
shortcut on your desktop right mouse click on it and select Properties...
Add your command line switch to the end of the information in the Target
box.
