It should. Providing you have proper Cyrillic fonts on your Mac, Office
2004 should be able to work with the document. All you need is Unicode
support and Word 2004 has it.

Anton,

I have no problem in general unless the doc was formatted in Courier. In
2004, Courier is no yet an Unicode font. You can try to change courier to
Monaco (an Apple fixed W Unicode savvy font)

It all appears as question marks to me... ;-) UTF-8 support is not yet
universal unfortunately :-\

Entourage?

Thanks, Paul!

Hello Corentin,

It appeared 100% correctly here:

§¬§Ñ§Ü §ç§à§â§à§ê§à! <---- direct copy and paste. This is black magic.

Yes. It could be done in the standard Entourage X as well. But now in 2004 I
can also write in Thai and Greek with diacritics:

ฌตà¸à¸Œ ÎΦΫή

In Word, there was a lot you couldn't do before. But you can do all that
there too now (in some fonts).

That's because Corentin is not using Entourage. He's using some cruddy
newsreader he prefers because he likes how it threads, or something. ;-)

Of course, Corentin has no use for international features like Unicode and
UTF-8 encoding (much less important than threading, you know) as he's a
parochial local. <g,d, & r>

:->>>
The two apps I've found that support threading "properly" have a very
poor support for UTF-8 unfortunately :-\ Entourage is just not there yet
as far as I am concerned :'-(

I have to admit I don't often type (or read) in languages that require
UTF-8. I can therefore afford to live without it :-\
I can also live without support for binaries (MacSoup can only save them
to the disk but doesn't even try to display them - HogWasher supports
them though).
