Russian on Mac? Getting started

Hello,

I am looking for general information about how to get started typing
Russian on my mac.

I would like to know what kind of keyboard you have had good
experiences with, and whether all Russian keyboards will work on Macs
or if there are some specific requirement I should look out for.

I soon will install Micorosoft Office on this computer, so any further
info about spell check functions, additional software and how to switch
between languages would also be appreciated.
