Safari and Firefox won't download MS updates

Whenever I try to upgrade per auto-update, the MS server is always (2
months) busy. When I go to a MS download page and try to download,
neither Safari or Firefox can download MS upgrades that start
"dowload.microsoft...." There must be some way around this. I'm using
Safari 2.0.4 and Tiger on a PowerPC G5. Thanks for your help! tpdungan

And you expect Microsoft Update to work with a Mac browser because?????

Presumably because there is no point in Microsoft selling Mac software
and updating it if no one can use it/update it.

Returning to the original question, I get downloads via a Windoze
system, save to a memory stick, and transfer them. If all else fails,
you might like to try that.

Here's some advice from another user:
-----------------
If comcast is the ISP provider
they are having a problem with the DNS servers. The fix is to go to the
TCP/IP and enter 68.87.64.196 then on the next line type 68.87.66.196.
Click apply and go back to the ms.mac download page and get the update.

Hi Travis:

I think your issue is with your internet connection. Your firewall may be
set to block .exe or .dmg files.

I just downloaded a Windows update from Microsoft Update using FireFox 2 on
the Mac.

When you go to the Windows Update home page, you will be taken to a
re-direct page that will take you to Microsoft Download Server.

If you try to download anything that requires Windows Validation, of course
that will not succeed unless you are using Windows operating system on your
Mac (either in Virtual PC or in Boot Camp or Parallels).

Any updates from the Mac Downloads section of Microsoft will work without
problems in Safari or FireFox. I just tried it in FireFox to make sure :)

Cheers
