Safe maximum size of PST file for Outlook 2003?

E

Eric_NY

I believe that PST files in Outlook 2003 have a formal size limit of 20 GB.

But is there any effective limit below that? Will I run into problems with
PST files in the 1-3 GB range?

Thanks.

Not as long as you have sufficient disk space. But make sure the PST
file was created with Outlook 2003 and is in the new, Unicode, format.
PST files created with older versions of Outlook and opened with Outlook
2003, or created in the old "Outlook 97-2002" format will still be
subject to the old ~2GB limit.

if you are making a new pop3 acct it will default to the new format. to
check existing pst files go to file, data file management - select the pst
and click Settings. If it doesn't say outlook 97-2002 format, it’s the new
format.

If a pst is the old format is there a way to convert it to the new format?
Is there a way to get Exchange2003 exmerge to output to the new format?
