Safe to use Access 2003 mscal.ocx with Access 97?

We are still using a lot of Access 97 applications. However, we are now
being told we need to replace the Access 97 mscal.ocx calendar control in
c:\windows\system32 with an Access 2003 version for a new PD-Trak
application.

Since we only have Access 97 installed, is there any risk in damaging older
versions of Access 97 databases if they try to use the Access 2003 version
of the mscal.ocx file?

Experience anyone could share in this regard would be most appreciated.

use an Access-forms-based Calendar.

no dependencies at all!

mvps.org/access has an example I think

Is it backwards compatible, Alex, or will they have to fix the references on
all of their Access 97 applications that used the old calendar?
