The software has a built-in end date, and I believe all the keys are the
same on the beta. Normally, an Office product key allows us to install on a
desktop and one mobile computer anyway.

For Beta 2, the keys are not the same (there is an exception for the
technical beta). The keys are provided to you when you download the
software.
I know that the keys are good for at least two installs. I don't know if
they are good for more. You can probably go to the download page and get
another set if you run into any issues.
Sorry, but I haven't experienced that with the public download source.

Interesting...I was told in the beta newsgroups that they are..
I guess the correct answer is that they SHOULD be unique. Maybe MS
changed that recently to make the downloads work?
The technical beta and public preview versions are handled differently, and
should not be confused. The technical beta is NDA.

If you need more keys I believe you can revisit the Beta site and re-sign-up
which will give you a new product key. I am not 100% about this but worth
checking into.
