Same Error Message when using "save as" (trying to shed more light

Network of 5 computers all using XP except the server using WinME. Office2000.

The problem occurrs when using "save as" in WORD and trying to change the
file name. (either an existing document or a new document that is trying to
name the file for me using the first few words of the document as the title
name). (No problem saving to own computer, just to the network)

What I see happening is that the computer thinks I'm trying to save my
document (called JOE) as a folder. When saving to my X drive, it says "the
folder X:/Joe isn't accessible...."

I am trying to save JOE on X, not save Joe on X in folder Joe (X:/Joe/Joe).
It appears to think that is what I'm trying to do.

Stupid windows updates. Screwed the whole pooch in this office. Like
others, I'm finding ways around this, but clearly this needs to be fixed.

All help will be appreciated. Thanks!

Colfax,

We are a network of 5 computers as well, all on xp except 1. Only one of
our computers is an update "freak" but we have been having the same problem
as well since yesterday!

I hope you get a response soon....Good luck!

Remove Hotfix KB885250 from the Control Panel, Add/Remove programs to
temporarily fix the problem. Then please call Microsoft PSS and report the
bug with the Hotfix. Hotfix bug calls are free.
