Same message appeared twice or three times in Inbox

I have an IMAP account which I access with Entourage 2004 v11.2.1 in both
PowerBook 15" and iMac G5. Both are running OS X 10.4.3.

The messages in my PB were okay but those in iMac got problem. Some
messages appeared twice and some appeared three times.

In other words, same message that appeared once in PB but appeared twice or
three times in iMac. It is so strange. Is there any way to fix it?

Thanks,

Charles
P.S. Entourage in iMac was newly installed.

Is this a POP account or IMAP?

It is an IMAP account. I just found that only one of the occurrence of the
same message could be deleted. When pressing delete on the others,
highlight bar moved upwards without removing the message. Further,
"repeated" messages received into Inbox one at a time. The maximum number
of occurrence that I got was four. I guess it could be more.

Right-click (control-click) on the folder and select 'repair message list'
from the contextual menu.

If that doesn't clear up the problem, right-click on the account icon in the
folder listing and select 'empty cache' (you will have to re-download all
the mail for that account).
