Hello all,
I have been searching for the solution to a problem that is indicated
EXACTLY as the newsgroup posts as indicated below...
-----------------------
The user can logon successfully at his workstation. He gets all the
server-file-shares, the proxy-client etc. He can access his own Mailbox via
OWA - using integrated authentication. OK. If he tries to open Outlook, he
receives the dialog box to enter his username, password and domain (although
it was configured to use integrated authentication to the Exchange Server).
I doesn't get access to his mailbox via Outlook. I reinstalled Office Suite
applied SPs once again; I deleted
all the (known to me) keys for the MAPI-profile.
----------------------
Setting authentication to shared/distributed or none, does not help at all.
--------------
I have the same problem. It will "check name" with the logon, but it will
not connect for mail. I tried this document: Q321652 but it did not work.
--------------
*****************
MY SITUATION was precluded by a system crash... I ended up re-installing
the W2K OS because the system would only boot in safe mode. The cryptic
event log info at the time indicated that Exchange had bombed at night
taking IIS with it. After doing a "repair" install of the OS the system
came up but Exchange did not. I ended up replacing a missing key in the
registry to get Exchange 2K up but no one was able to connect to their
mailboxes. I did a restore from the previous night's backup and all
appeared to go well but no one could get into their mailboxes (still) **
see above symptoms **
It was then that I realized that OWA worked. The use of Outlook to Exchange
brings up the logon prompt which doesn't work even when the correct info is
supplied. I tried clearing Exchange info from the user's active directory
page and re-connecting it to no avail. Everyone was accessing Exchange
prior to this debacle fine. I'm convinced it probably has something to due
with server related settings but I don't know where to start. Help!
