Same Tab across multiple notebooks

I am setting up a system with several notebooks for different subjects. I
would like to have a common tab that shows up in all notebooks. What I want
to do is if I make a change to one tab in a master notebook, it will be
replicated in all of the other notebooks without making the cahnges to all of
the notebooks.

Sorry, it will not work this way.
ON does not proved the kind of "inheritage" as you have in mind.

You may change things in the template used.
But this will only work for *future* notebooks.
Already existing notebooks will not be touched.

What you can do is put a section somewhere in a common location, and
then insert a shortcut to the section in all the other notebooks
(ctrl+shift+drag the section to all the other notebooks in Windows).

To echo what Ilya mentioned, there is a good article at
