Same task across all resources.

Is there a way I can create an identical task across all of my resources? I don't want to just add the resources into the task because it doesn't show up properly when I sort by Resources - because I want it to show up for every resource. Not only that, the time to complete this task is different across all resources. I don't want to add it to every resource because it's tedious for the number of resources I have. It's almost as if they're all taking vacations, but not at the same time. It's a recurring task across resource, not time. I'm currently using MSP 2003. Thanks advance for any help...

Since it is a different task for each resource (different in time and amount
of work) then you don't have a choice but to create separate tasks. This is
especially true if you want it to show up as a single task for each
resource.
I'm sorry if it is tedious. You need to decide whether it is important
enough to actually model the task (and bear the tedium - remember you need
to update it too) or if it is something small enough that you can simply
ignore. Sounds like it is not critical to the project success so I would
consider skipping it.

Thanks JackD. What about same task (same amount of time/duration and work) across all resources? How can I add this task to all resources AND have the task shows up as a single task for each resource?

Hi,

If you think in terms of assigning resources to tasks not tasks to resources
this seems quite simple
Make the task
set the desired duration
select the task
Assign resources window
In this window select all resources you want on that task
Assign
Close the assign resources window
Make the task fixed duration
Insert the "Work" column
Replace the work shown by the duration times the number of resources.

This is how you would assign it to all resources, however, it will not show
up as a single task for each resource.
It is either one task or many tasks. It can't be both. You have to decide
which way is best for you.
An assignment view (such as resource usage) WILL show it as individual
assignments, but that is as close as you can get.
