Sample Data Install Error

Hi - I have MSP Server 2003 installed on Win2003 server, running SQL 2000
8.00.760, and I'm having problems running the install for the sample data on
that server. I'm logged into the server as Admin.

When I click the shortcut from the Start menu to install the sample DB/ etc,
I get the following "Pre-Validation" error: "Microsoft SQL Server 2000 with
Service Pack 3 must be installed before configuring the sample database."....

Any idea what I can do to get past this error and install the sample data...?

I would install the Service Pack 3 of SQL Server before anything else

I have the same problem, and I already had SP3a installed. I have fresh OS
install and MSP2003 Server Install, and then I try to load the sample data,
but get the same message.

According to SQL Server Enterprise manager, I am at 8.00.818 (SP3) after
installing MS-031. MSBA also indicates I don't have any other patches to
apply for the OS or Office. What can I be missing?

Hi Passporter,
I too have the same frustrating problem..I checked and installed every
possible service packs and pathes but still i get the prevalidation error.

Have you found any suggestions or solution to this problem...If yes please
let us know. Thanks in advance.

Hello is any body there reading this posting ???

I require help on installing the sample db. It keeps giving me pre
installation error stating that my sql server requires sp3, but I already
have the sp3. is there any suggestions to solve this problem....Any advice
will be very helpful.
