Save a web page - you don't have appropriate peermission to perform this operation

One of my users has a calendar he publishes via FTP to the web. Sometimes
when he chooses "save as web page" it work fine. Most of the time it returns
the error "you don't have appropriate permission to perform this operation"
or just locks up for a few minutes and then returns the error.

I set it up so the file name is
ftp://<username>:<password>@www.domain.com/public_html/<username>/index.htm

I have looked all over the web and Technet for an answer and have found
nothing. Has anyone here run into this problem and found a solution.

He is runnning 2003, SP3, with sp3 hotfix applied. Has administrator rights
on his machine and on the domain. This is Exchange 2003.
If you need more information please let me know. I have spent way too many
hours on this issue.

Thanks,

John

I know there are issues if the path exists. Have him delete the files from
the folder and try.

Hi Diane,
Thanks for your reply.
I'm assuming you mean the path on the FTP server? I will try that today.
But, I have been updating from my own station with no issues. Although the
error is a Outlook error, I will also check the permissions on the web
folder just to be sure.

Thanks for your suggestion,

John

yes, the contents of the folder on the FTP server. it could be permissions
on the files - they are getting marked read only so he can't overwrite them.
That's at least part of the issue with the filepath problem I'm aware of.

Tried that. Didn't change. I saved once, when I tried to save the second
time, same error. I also tried removing all the files on the FTP server,
rechecked permissions. Same story.
I can access the same folder from another computer with no issues.

Any other ideas?

No other ideas. If the problem occurs only when the user uses one machine
but not others, then its something on that machine - firewall or something
causing problems. If other accts work correctly on that machine, just not
this users, then it could be outlook.
