Save appointment through webpage?

Its probably been asked and answered a thousand times but all of a sudden I
feel like learning how to embed some type of script in a webpage that could
in some way setup an appointment reminder dialog. Is this a good place to
start?

You might want to look at creating an .ics file and uploading it to your web
server and provide a link to it for download to the local machine.
