"Save as" appears unwontedly in Word 2002

When a Word document is open, the "Save as" dialogue box will appear every
few minutes, without being requested. It's infuriating - because typing then
continues in the filename box instead of the document. I can't see any
obvious way of turning it off.

Any ideas gratefully received.

Did you ever get a solution to this? I've got the same thing going on, in
Word, Powerpoint, and Excel (all 2002).
