'save as' change

Using 'save as', I am no longer able to 'paste' into the 'save:Microsoft
word' 'Name' box from the 'edit' drop down menu. as I believe I used to be
able to do. Pasting only works with the key combination command 'V'. What
could have changed the 'edit-paste' capability?

I don't recall ever having been able to use menus within a dialog, only
cmd-v.

Are you sure it used to work?

No. I'm not sure. But I've found myself going there habitually as though it
used to function that way to paste. Not a big deal. You're probably right,
cmd-v.

I'm talking about word2001mac

Just now I 'saved as' a document after baing away from the powerbook for a
couple of hours, and yes, I am sure that I was able to paste into the save
as dialogue box from the edit drop down menu and not have to go to ctrl-v.

The reason I remember now is because I do so much work from the track pad.

....'drag select' my doc title from the document, then: edit menu>copy,
filemenu>save as, edit menu>paste,...then with my right little finger I type
the 'return' key to 'save'.

Hasn't anyone with word 2001mac done it this way?
