Save As Dialog Box Opens and won't close

When I open ANY MS Office Application I immediately get a "Save As" dialog
box. I save the file multiple times but the dialog box won't close. I
cancel the operation but the dialog box won't close. The only way to close
the application is through Task Manager.

It sounds like you have some misbehaving add-ins or a third party
application that hooks into the Office applications. Does the issue still
occur if you start the application in Safe Mode? Hold Ctrl while starting
and continue holding until you are prompted to start in Safe Mode.

Also, please provide us with a specific application and version of the
application you are using.

I have the same problem. I think it began after a recent update, but I can't
be sure about that. Basically, the 'Save As' box pops up indiscriminately
while working in Office applications. I cannot continue using the
application until the dialog box is closed. If I click Save or Cancel, it
disappears, only to pop up again in a few minutes, and the lag time gets
shorter and shorter until the box simply won't go away, and I have to use the
Task Manager to close the program.

I find the issue most often with Word (I'm running Word 2007 on a Vista
machine) but it's also affected Outlook (2007 with BCM). I've seen a couple
other posts here with similar or identical problems, but I haven't seen a
fix. I tried opening Word in Safe Mode as described in this thread, but I
couldn't.

I'm not well versed in this stuff, so I'm hoping someone will be able to
help me with the issues. This problem just came out of the blue about one
week ago, and has been accelerating.
